Rock breakers are typically positioned at the front of a crushing circuit to prevent oversize rocks from entering the circuit. Breakers most commonly have a hydraulic hammer installed at the end of a hydraulic boom or arm, that an operator uses to break up large rocks so they can pass through a grizzly feeder or similar large particle screener to be crushed by a primary crusher.
